Gav Sidhu (Black Belt V Degree)
Gav has been training in Taekwondo since the age of five and competing internationally since the age of fourteen. In his debut middleweight sparring bouts abroad he reached the quarter-finals at the World Championships in Argentina (2002), beating the defending Argentinian World Champion in the process. Gav is a popular figure on the Taekwondo circuit, known for his good nature, likeable personality and dedication to training; qualities that have seen him captain the Adult England Men’s team to glory across Europe and the world. Gav has won English, Scottish, British and Mediterranean titles and has twice been European Silver Medallist. At this years World Cup Championships in Rome, Gav came away with Silver medals in both Middlewight sparring (VS Russia) as well as Degree Patterns (VS Argentina). He also formed part of Team UK’s coaching team and is currently ranked amongst the top three Adult middleweight fighters in the UK.
Prit Sidhu (Black Belt IV Degree)
With 19 years of experience under her belt, Prit has achieved incredible success both nationally and internationally. She has fought for England on all sides of the globe including South Korea, Argentina, Czech Republic, Croatia, Spain and Italy as well as all over the UK. At this summers World Championships in Rome, Prit was inches away from winning Gold in Degree Patterns after beating Italy, Argentina and the USA to reach the final. However, Prit unfortunately tore her Anterior Cruciate Ligament during the final and was unable to finish, coming away with Silver and ruling her out for the rest of the Championships. In 2010, Prit was again only inches away from being crowned World Middleweight Sparring Champion beating Russia, Ireland and Argentina before losing out to Holland in the final. Prit is an accomplished and highly experienced competitor and an individual who is completely approachable creating a highly relaxed environment to train and learn within.
Gurlaine Sidhu (Black Belt IV Degree)
The youngest in the family, Gurlaine certainly makes up for with her competitiveness , desire and will to win. She is the current top ranked Adult Lightweight fighter in the UK and is also the reigning European & British Lightweight champion. Despite her relative young age, Gurlaine possesses a wealth of experience and has reached the Lightweight Sparring final in each of the last three European Championships with Silver in Croatia and Italy before eventually prevailing with Gold in Barcelona last year. In 2010 Gurlaine also captained the Junior England Girls Sparring Team to Gold at the World Championships in South Korea. She is well known on both the national and international circuit for her fearsome fighting style and will to win.
